Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
This wildlife sanctuary is the second biggest sanctuary in Kerala. It contains rich and green forest which make it wilder. The place here is the home for many wild animals like Tigers, Elephants, Indian Bison, and Deers. You can also have the view of many rare birds here.
Parambikulam Tiger Reserve
The sanctuary here is world heritage site which was selected by the UNESCO world heritage committee. The place here is situated in Chittur Taluka of Palakkad district. This sanctuary is a place for different tribes like Malasar, Mala Malasar, Muduvar, etc. You can have a sightseen of many wild animals here like tigers, bears, leopards and many kinds of birds.
Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary
The sanctuary is located in Kothamangalam taluka which is in Ernakulam district. The bird sanctuary here was also described as the richest bird habitat in India. This bird contains various types of birds mainly like different kinds of owls, cuckoos, warblers, etc. So if you are a bird lover don’t forget to visit this amazing place.
Periyar National Park
The place is largely known for its Elephant and Tiger reserve. This place is situated near Thekkady in the districts of Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Idukki. Much rare flora and fauna can be found here in this sanctuary.
Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary
This place is also well known for one of the protected areas among the wildlife sanctuaries. And it is also one of the sanctuaries which are under consideration of UNESCO. You can find not many but rare animals and plants like other sanctuaries mentioned above main attraction here is GRIZZLED GIANT SQUIRREL. This place is situated in Devikulam taluka in the Idukki district.
Silent Valley National Park
This place is home for some rarely seen species in the category of both birds and wild mammals. Birds like Great Indian Hornbill, Ceylon frog-mouth and rarely found long-legged buzzard can be sited in this park. Mammals like rare threatened lion-tailed macaque can be seen here in the park. This place is situated in the Nilgiri Hills of Palakkad district.
